BOSCH CORPORATE RESEARCH · INDEPENDENT RESEARCHER

Timur Tasci, PhD

I work on AI in production and real-time systems at Bosch Corporate Research (CR).

My independent research explores neural agents and formal verification for mathematical discovery. I completed my PhD at the University of Stuttgart, studying a real-time, service-oriented architecture for distributed control systems using container technologies.

DISSERTATION

Design of a Real-Time, Service-Oriented Architecture for Distributed Control Systems utilizing Container Technologies.

This thesis develops a service-oriented, container-based control architecture for flexible manufacturing, replacing monolithic PLC software with modular microservices. A message-driven communication system connects cyclic real-time control with event-driven IT and was validated on a model facility. Cyclic scheduling enabled deterministic execution and improved real-time performance, while hardware strongly influenced timing behavior. The results support flexible distributed control, with further study of event-driven timing and validation on suitable hardware needed before use in safety-critical applications.
